Example of the process for using Sowiso in Remindo
Content synchronization
Changes to the structure are updated every hour. This includes new exercises, packages, subchapters, and chapters. Changes to existing exercises are immediately visible in Remindo.
Author groups and/or chapters without questions in Sowiso are not synchronised to Remindo.
How to use Remindo and Sowiso together: step by step
Step 1: Create questions in Sowiso
As a Sowiso author, you can create or edit questions in Sowiso. Go to "Author", "Exercises" to create a new exercise. There are more than 20 types of exercises you can create in Sowiso, but not all of them are currently supported in Remindo. The following exercise types are supported in Remindo:
- Drag & drop
- Geogebra
- Hidden hotspot
- Multiple choice (random)
- Open free
- Open
- Radio button (random)
- Strategy
When a set contains an exercise that is not supported in Remindo, the entire set is skipped during synchronisation with Remindo.
Step 2: Setting up questions in Sowiso
Once you are satisfied with the exercises you have created, make sure they have the correct settings so they become visible in the Remindo environment. The exercise must be set to public (see “1” in the screenshot). You could organize your exercises in a chapter, in order to easily find them in Remindo later on.
When the exercise is ready for use, locate the exercise set ID (see “2” in the screenshot).
If you are a new user of the combination of Sowiso and Remindo, please contact the support team at Sowiso or Remindo for assistance in setting up the connection between the two systems, so you can access your Sowiso exercises in Remindo.
Step 3: Searching for questions in Remindo
Once the synchronisation is complete, your questions will be visible in Remindo. After logging into Remindo, click on the Sowiso Question Bank, which can be recognised by the Sowiso logo displayed next to the name of the question bank.
After opening it, the structure is displayed on the left side of the screen. The top-level category is the author group synchronized from Sowiso. The chapters and any subchapters and packages are then displayed underneath.
After each chapter name, the number of questions is shown in the brackets. By clicking on a chapter (1), the corresponding questions are displayed on the right-hand side. Click on a question (2) to preview it.
Searching for questions using the Sowiso set ID
In addition to searching for questions within the structure, questions can also be searched using the “Sowiso set ID”.
Enter the Sowiso set ID in the search field and click Enter or the “search” button.
The corresponding question will be displayed.
If you want to search for multiple questions using the Sowiso set ID, use the OR function in your search query. For example, “21264 OR 21271 OR 21006”. After this search, these three questions will be displayed.
Step 4: Add questions to a Remindo test
Questions that have been synchronized from Sowiso can be added to an existing or new test blueprint. The Sowiso questions can be combined in a test with questions from other question banks and/or categories.
To add a new test blueprint, follow these steps:
- Log in to the relevant management environment.
- Click the “Tests” button.
- Then select the program to which the test should be linked. It is also possible to choose “All programs”. This is the list of test blueprints for all programs in the management environment.
4. After selecting the program, choose “Add new test blueprint” in the top-left corner of the screen.
5. A screen with settings will open up, see also the article “Test blueprint settings.” The options in Remindo that have an asterisk (*) next to them are mandatory fields that must be filled in.
For further explanation of the various test blueprint settings, please refer to the Remindo knowledge base.
6. After you have filled in all the settings, click on "Save" at the bottom right.
7. Once the test blueprint has been created, the questions can be selected. Click on “Content” and then on “Rules”. After that, click on “Add selection”.
Choose a question bank and select your questions in the next window. Click “Save” when you are done.
