Use case
This article explains how to give students additional time on a test using Sowiso and SchoolYear together. For example, if a student experiences technical difficulties during a test, you might want to grant them extra time to finish it. If you're using SchoolYear to secure the test, granting this additional time works differently than it does for a regular Sowiso test (without SchoolYear).
Setting up your test
When creating the test, create a generous âSchoolYearâ test window. If your test will be running between 8:00 and 9:00, expand this window in test settings from 8:00 to 10:00, to allow time for technical difficulties.
This can be achieved by using the following test settings:
Under âDate & Timeâ:
Start from: 8:00
Start before: 10:00
Deadline: 10:00
Under âSettingsâ:
Duration: 60 (minutes)
This will give a "Schoolyear test window" from 8:00 - 10:00. The latter date is calculated like this end time = min(start_before + duration, deadline). All tests that are still in progress at 10:00 will automatically be submitted.
The time for each student is controlled by the duration. If a student experiences difficulties during a test, extra time can added via the "Student test settings" by increasing the duration for the particular student.
