As a Manager on Sowiso, you can create user accounts by uploading them via an Excel sheet (supporting formats: .csv, .xsl and .xslx. To do so, go to "Admin", and then to "Upload users".
Carefully fill in the Excel sheet as described below. You can use one of the templates, download them from the bottom of the page (can be also found at the bottom of this article):
Your Excel sheet has to contain the following columns:
- username - a unique username, preferably the same as the email address.
- email - email address of the user.
- firstname - first name of the user.
- lastname - last name of the user.
- type - type/role of the user, where
1 = ADMIN, 2 = AUTHOR, 3 = STUDENT, 4 = TEACHER, 5 = MANAGER
Optionally, you can add additional columns:
- password - a password for when it's a new user. For existing users it will be ignored. If you leave it blank, a password will be generated that will be displayed in a table in the last step. User must change the generated password at their first login.
- insertion - name that is part of the surname. In Dutch, usually de or van de
- expiration date - date that the account will expire in format dd-mm-yyyy or in the Excel date format
- language_id* - language for the user, where
1 = dutch, 2 = english, 3 = french, 4 = spanish, 6 = norwegian, 8 = swedish, 9 = german - classN where N is an enumerating number starting at 1 like
class1- an existing class ID to enroll the student in - groupN where N is the number matching the class in the previous column, so
group1belongs toclass1-One or more group names you want to enroll students in within the class. Group do not have to exist yet; in case a group name is new within a class, it will be created during the upload. If you want to enroll students in multiple groups, you can separate them using a;. Check out the sample uploads for an example. - student number - unique identifier number for an external student system
After the initial upload, you will get to see a confirmation screen showing a table of the users. In the last column, called 'Notes', a message will be displayed that tells how the system will process the record. It also shows possible errors. In general, new users will be created and existing users will be added to the new classes and groups that are specified in the upload.
