What is authoring?
Authoring is the process of creating or editing various materials on the Sowiso platform, such as exercises, theory pages, packages, (sub)chapters, exams, or courses.
Who can become an Author?
Sowiso has an internal authoring team which creates all the Sowiso courses, but authoring is also available free of cost to any of our clients.
Authors can create different kinds of materials. Find out about the most commonly used pieces of content below 👇
Exercise
Sowiso offers over 20 exercise types!
-
Make your exercises randomised, so that students can keep refreshing and redoing the exercises. Create random parameters (called "variables" on Sowiso) using PHP, Maxima, Python or R.
-
Include automated feedback to help guide your students to the correct answer.
Translate your content into different languages: Dutch, English, French, Spanish, Norwegian, Swedish or German.
Organize your exercises in packages or sets.
Use your exercise in practice material or in an exam.
Import your exercises from another tool.
Theory page
Creating a theory page is as easy as creating a page in Word.
Add images, videos, links or documents.
Link your theory pages to exercises.
-
Add dynamic GeoGebra applets.
Course
Create a full course with two levels (subchapter and chapter).
Combine exercises and theory pages.
Incorporate videos and presentations.
Make edits to Sowiso-made courses to get a good basis for your course.
Exam
Combine your exercises into an exam.
-
Use Sowiso together with Schoolyear, Safe Exam Browser, fullscreen mode and other security settings.
