Sowsio’s first-ever open Q&A session took place online on Tuesday, September 30th. This was just the first in series of meetings we plan to organise once every three months. The meeting is open to Sowiso users, wheter they have a Teacher, Author or Manager role on the platform.
Question 1: How to make changes to a Sowiso course?
This time, we focused on the authoring side of Sowiso, specifically: making changes to the Sowiso-made course. Sowiso courses can be lightly edited with Teacher access as well. Teachers can rename and reorganize chapters, or even pull together chapters from different courses. But when it comes to making finer changes to the material, that needs to be done in the Authoring environment. Some of these changes include:
- Making changes to an exercise
- Making changes to a theory page
- Reorganising the material below the chapter level
In this meeting, we focused on making changes to an exercise. Our meetings aren’t recorded in order to allow the participants to freely ask questions. Instead, we have step-by-step instructions on our knowledge base, as well as a YouTube video:
Question 2: Can I extend access to an assignment for one student?
Sowiso assignments can be assigned to a full class, a group, or an individual student. But, what happens if you first assign it to the full group, but then one or two students request longer access to the same assignment?
In this case, the best thing to do is to create a new assignment just for that student (or a few students). You can follow the general steps to create an assignment, and when you go to schedule it, make sure to tick only the boxes next to the student’s name.
