The last Sowiso Q&A meeting of 2025 was focused on testing on Sowiso. We reviewed the testing features introduced in the previous year and talked about the integrations with other tools.
Sections that are visible to Students
Sections in tests are an easy way to group your questions within a test. It's then additionally possible to pull a random exercise(s) from your section, so that each student gets a random selection of exercises. The section titles were always hidden during the test, and the titles could be shown (optionally) when the students received their results.
It's now also possible to show the section titles during the test. The default setting is to not show the section names. Read more about sections and all the possibilities.
Checks on individual questions
Allow your students to check if their question(s) are correct before submitting the full test. Select the questions within your test that can be checked, and decide on the number of checks that students get. Students won't know what was wrong in their answer; they will only get an overall percentage of their score on that question. Read more about checks.
Please note: it's not possible to allow checks on multiple-choice answers, as that increases the guessing chance.
Enforce a delay between attempts
If your students are allowed multiple test attempts, you can set up a waiting time between two attempts. This stops students from refreshing the test until they have a version they like. The student will see a countdown to when they can take another test. Read more about delays between test attempts.
Assistive technology
Immersive Reader by Microsoft is available during Sowiso practice, but it is also optionally available in tests, depending on the settings. This tool allows students to listen to the text and manipulate the text to improve readability. Read more about the Immersive Reader.
Read instruction information
It's possible to make it required for your students to read the test instructions, before they start the test. They will need to tick a checkbox "I confirm that I have read the above instructions". Read more about the mandatory test instructions.
Remindo integration
Sowiso is a part of Paragin Group, and it integrates with one other member of the group: Remindo. Remindo is a testing tool which supports the entire examination process, from question development to post-exam analysis. By integrating Sowiso into Remindo, teachers can use their Sowiso-made questions in their Remindo tests.
Read more about the integration between Sowiso and Remindo (NL).
SchoolYear integration
Schoolyear is a safe exam workspace which helps you secure your online assessments. It transforms any device into a safe environment for online exams, even when students bring their own devices. Read more about securing your Sowiso test wiith Schoolyear.
Question from the meeting: Should you whitelist Immersive Reader if you are going to use it in a test on Sowiso, protected by SchoolYear?
Answer: Yes! Please find a full list of websites that should be whitelisted here.
